Nick Cave Song Haunt

"Jesus of the Moon" from "Dig, Lazarus, Dig" 2008

This has been in my head for days now.

Juan Alonso

I first posted on Seattle artist Juan Alonso last year (2007 archive was deleted amidst a late winter funk). Juan has a blog here and a web site here. See his site for the full serial effect of these variations. The general evolution of these goes from boldly visceral to a more delicate mindplay in the later ones. Ink and graphite on clayboard....mmmm.

His public works are pretty wonderful too.

In Progress

Each around 5' high. Each started in acrylic, with the intention of switching to oil, once I "really get going" on them. I'm going to stay with acrylic though. I want to let go of my painting expectations, ie. that it will be a long involved process that may or may not lead somewhere. I'd like to work more in a language with bold emblematic suggestions, with the occasional body narrative...

The Art Practices Are Aligning

This is surely the most similar my day job art and my personal art will ever be. The blue shapes in foreground are foam board and will hang from a ceiling. The rest are prepped and based wood panels, awaiting painted exploration.

W the Movie

Local artist Alfred Eaker's second film, W the Movie, will be shown twice inIndy before hitting the road. You missed your first chance, but can still catch a free screening Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7:00, at Earth House at Lockerbie Central United Methodist 237 N. East St, Indianapolis.

He directed this film with Ralph St. Just, and, if you're wondering, I can personally vouch that this has been his working title from its inception several years ago.

(I played the naughty Mary in his first film, "Jesus and Her Gospel of Yes")

Nicole Mauser

Nicole Mauser left a comment on my Nozkowski post. She grew up here on the eastside of Indianapolis, about 5 minutes away. These paintings are from a show at Greene Contemporary Gallery in Miami, and apparently were painted while she was still an undergraduate. She just started graduate studies at the University of Chicago. Very impressive work.

D-I-Y Gift for a Man

I love bad clip art. I just commented on my collection of 'bad kitty graphics' and remembered this little zine I made for a friend.

The Oversink Collection

Quiz: Is is what I found in my cupboard, from previous owner, or what I'll leave?
