Flashback Friday -Kiln Nostalgia

I sold my kiln on ebay today, and so here's today's flashback. Above is my 2002 Christmas presents load, which my notes show was glaze fired on 12-23. Wait another 7 hours for cool-down, and lift the lid. That was one beautiful site.

Once upon a time, I loved my home and planned many projects for it. These tiles were intended as focal points for the black and white mosaic I planned over my kitchen counter.

They range from 4"-8" and were to be surrounded by smaller white and black tiles, all hand shaped.
I hate to let go of ideas, but they can become an albatross, and I want to move forward with painting. The auction went well, great bidding war at the very end :-)

Congrats on the kiln sale! Love seeing the ceramics and all the globular thingamabobs. It's so fun seeing connections to the past. Why isn't the rest of the artblog world catching on to this?
To be fair, Tracy did show us some work from high school and Steven got the ball rolling last week, but still. More, I want to see more!

It is hard to let go of ideas, isn't it? Or even worse, bodies of work that nobody seems to like.

Do you mean that you never did any tile work?

Oh shit. . . I almost forgot it was Friday. I better post something quick.

I should have done tile work, and that was the primary plan with the kiln. So many more public art opportunties. Painting- life destroyer or savior?

"Painting- life destroyer or savior?"

the great thing is, you get to decide.
