The late summer garden becomes a depressing mess, reminding me of my neglectfulness. Then fall comes along and makes the to-do list irrelevant.

That is a jungle. The cats must love it. Is that your white truck in the first image? It is so far away. How much property do you have? I barely sense neighbors. And yet, you have told us of your hood and all its sketchiness.
It's an illusion. In a week or two my private oasis behind the leafy barrier will be gone and I'll have visuals to go with the expletives I've been hearing all summer.
It's only 1/3 acre, which is a large lot for the area. I find the google earth view interesting - 1650 is the address.
